Finished Hybrid Project For My Wall and Freebie

Hi guys! just wanted to show you my latest creation. It's a hybrid project, and I had a blast creating it! It was wonderful using my crafty hands again like this. I even had to go cut my long fingernails because they kept scratching my digital prints, and I couldn't get into the corners with them. 

I think you loose that sense of handmade satisfaction when you do a lot of digital work, the environment becomes too artificial almost. And to balance it out you need to actually print the pages or create hybrid projects. Seriously how many of you have your layouts sitting inside your hard drive?! Goodness get them printed and framed or made into a beautiful book. Let other people admire your creative work and allow yourself to feel content and proud of your creations. I hear of so many people who actually don't get their digital pages printed, they create create CREATE, but it all stays inside their computer. Stop doing that! and give your creations REAL life so you can actually hold something you have created. After all, art is meant to be seen and hung, not hidden and forgotten. OK I'll stop the telling off, oops, didn't mean to go down that track. Maybe some of you need to hear it though.

Here are a few tips if you are wanting to do something like this -

• Download my mask freebie to assist you in creating the digital blocks
• Use blue tack to stick paper and objects on before you use glue to permanently attach things. Actually you shouldn't glue anything down until the next day, because the next day, you will see things differently with fresh eyes and you may want to change the position of an object... trust me you will, its happened to me so many times!
• Always stand back and Analise your composition every now and again while you are arranging.
• Glue all your objects to each printed and cut block before gluing to the tray. I found it a lot easier this way.
• Try not to over crowd all your blocks, too many items and detailing can cause confusion for the eye. Allow negative space on 2-3 of your blocks so the rest of the blocks have breathing space, and your eyes have somewhere to rest as it looks through the tray.
• Keep a colour scheme in mind and stick to it.

Cathy Zielske's Template, New Kit and Freebie

I know some of you might be thinking why buy templates... you can make them yourself. But when you have a lot of catching up to do, you do need all the help you can get. Got too many photos to scrap with?

I went to a beach last Sunday and took lots of pics, and finished scrapping (designing) with them last night. Here's the album, you can view all the pages on facebook -

I was really surprised at how fast I completed these pages. I think one of the big reasons could have something to do with everything being so minimal, you end up choosing and playing with a limited amount of design elements.

By Applechick-  I absolutely love they way she tore the paper down the side like that. You'd think that it would create a disjointed look, but by adding staples and 'tucking' the photo behind the paper. She has created depth and stability. Bravo!

By ThereseRydstrom- This is a great example of a well balanced layout. The trick to balancing a layout is to almost visualize a scale. If its heavy with images or elements on the right, balance it with a few items somewhere on the left. Like the title here.


By star74- stunning white space layout! another great way to add warmth to a WS layout, is to add paper with texture. It helps to create more visual interest and more dimension.


By BettyJoR - Is'nt her cat stunning? I really like the splash of yellow behind her cat. Don't be afraid to add colour to a layout that is mostly neutral. It can really compliment the colour scheme. Play around with it!

I'm thinking about going and getting a flat iron plate today! To make Roti's in. I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have'nt made one in 4ish years! I know I'm not a very good Indian! I make curries though, at least once a week. But I don't have the time to make Roti's from scratch. I should start, because Noah and Jacinda loves them, & I think I should stop depriving my husband! LOL! I hope I can still make them round.. we'll see.

Third Freebie!!

Yay! This ones called 'I Live For'  Heres a page I did using the freebie. The paper is actually from a kit I am working on at the moment called 'Pieces of me'

I hope I am giving you guys a good idea of what to expect soon. I haven't forgotten about telling you guys, where I'm selling. I'm just getting myself organized. A few people have asked me how I manage to do all that I do. Believe me I am no time management expert. But watching no TV. And putting house work, somewhere down the bottom of the priority list helps! At the moment my house work is shocking!!!! I have to compromise something right. Anyway its only for a short season, until my little projects have successfully launched.
