Hi friends. I thought I'd start sharing the progress on my place. The house is slowly starting to look the way I wanted it to look like. It has been a little over six years since we moved into this place and it feels like we have taken forever to get here... I honestly thought it would never happen, because of the time and lack of money. Over this time though, I have been collecting and making items to display here and there, feels good to have it come together so nicely. Remember I mentioned starting the entrance makeover last year... like I said - we ARE slow! The two left photo are from outside the entrance. And the right photo is from the inside, notice the door on the left of that wall.
I now have an entrance that's more me. Something that says 'Hey there, let me lead you to a place where you can sit and relax'
There used to be an ugly sliding door on the left hand corner leading to the kitchen. I hated the fact that when visitors entered our home, one of the first things they saw was a work zone... and sometimes a very busy and messy work zone. So thanks to Justin and his muscles he closed that up nicely for us. Justin also plastered the walls, which he hated, heehee. And I put wallpaper up for the first time, which I also hated. But thankyou 60 Minutes Makeover for giving me the tips and confidence to get that stuff up! Looove that show! Love my fabric art blocks too, I also made these a looong time ago, they add the perfect amount of interest on the walls without it looking too busy. Here are more pics -
I'm pleased!
Stay tuned, because I will be sharing more of my makeovers with you all!
GOR-GEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I can only dream of something that beautiful. How on earth do the children not mess it up--on purpose, or inadvertently? Anyway, yes, it's totally you, and totally beautiful just like you. Congratulations on getting so much accomplished!

You have both obviously been super busy, what a transformation! It Looks fabulous, and I have to agree 60 minute makeover rocks, it is just a pity we don't have 100 people with an unlimited budget that can come in and totally transform the parts we are unsatisfied with, in 60 minutes. Your artwork is as per normal totally divine, but I have to ask where the large family canvas has gone, because as you know I adore that. I can't wait to see what else you have been up too! xx

haahaaa, Heather I got a hall table with drawers on purpose, I know how the entrance becomes a dumping ground so the small things goes in the draw and the bigger stuff I just try really really hard to put things away as I go ... or yell at the kids and husband to get rid of it! I'm slowly becoming a neat freak... but have vowed never to go there completely. Dont want to be like my mum in-law, even though she inspires me a lot with housekeeping, I just don't want to be neurotic like her.
How come you are almost the first to comment on my posts? lol! Thanks for the encouragement, Heather!

Oh yes, I dream about the 60 minute makeover team stopping by NZ alot! Well only a little. =)
That blocked canvas I had on the wall originally is tucked away waiting for the right spot. Its nice to have a selection of art to change every now and then, keeps thing fresh I reckon. Thanks for your comments, Tracy!

What a wonderful job you did, Vinnie!
It looks more brighter and lighter, and it looks like the sun is knocking at your door, hihih.
This is more YOU, but also more ME.
I know '60 minutes makeover', and these guys are doing wonderful things with a small budget. They have a lot of nice ideas.
Take your time to make your house has the looks you want. The result will be better. I don't believe in hurry, hurry....a house has to have a 'home feeling'.
Less is more: I will organise my new home in the same way. I have to be patient too. We will build a new one, but I think it will take us 3 years before we can move. We take the decisions step per step. We are still busy with an architect, and we want to begin to build in spring 2012.
Thanks for sharing!

Looking at that entrance alone will make you think that it's a newly-bought house. It's so beautiful and artistic. Those bird ornaments and pictures will certainly attract passersby. Post some more photos of your future makeovers.

The entrance is simple yet beautiful! It would be lovelier if you try adding a large overhang enough to accommodate two people. Providing adequate lighting is also good, since a cover will slightly darken the front area. But that makeover is just fine. Congratulations on getting the job done!

Well, from the first picture, I did not think that there were problems with your doors until I saw the ‘after’ picture. So, I changed my mind because I can see that the big transformation is just amazing! It is impressive how you worked out and created another look for your door, which looks like it came from a home model catalogue. I hope I can see some more of your home remodeling.
