Well hello there! I hope you all are having a great start to the week.

Yes I've been rendering my butt off trying to make this clip available for you today, I hope you enjoy this little freebie. This is the best way for me to communicate how I create my shadows, I talk about some of my thoughts and show you a few tricks, and at the end, mention some design principles.
You can view it right here on my blog if you have amazing eye site. Or you can view it on Vimeo!
When you are ready, you might want to study this too (click image for larger version) -
Feedback on the video is welcome! Please don't tell me I need to make it more crisp or bigger though, because when you're working with web you have to compromise on some of those things.
Oh and don't tell me my New Zealand accent is annoying too! ...I already know that! Hah!
Later!
Thanks Vinnie! That was very helpful! I use PSE, so I hope I can still use some of your advice to help me out. My only suggestion is to maybe point out more throughout the demonstration what is actually changing. I had a hard time seeing the change on the objects (particularly when you were working with the bevel), but could totally see the difference when it was finished. And your accent is great! :)
Beautiful page! Thanks for sharing your talents!

Thankyou, Jen! I'm making notes on that. ;)

First off I really enjoyed your accent, and second I LOVED this walk through. Your way is so much easier and allows a lot more control than what I was doing. Thanks so much for sharing!

Your accent is awesome, but I imagined your voice to be so different. Thanks for the walkthrough!

hanks, i love it when i learn something new. Changing the color of the DS and adding the bevel was great! Can you tell me how to do a realistic rubon over the edge of a photo? I get the whole slice and nudge thing, but yours looks so much better than that! Thanks!!

Thanks Vinnie - that was a great Walk Through and so helpful! I love your accent ;)

I really enjoyed this, Vinnie! I don't have PS (just PSE) but I learned lots about changing the shadow color and how a small bevel can really add dimension. Loved your dot element that completed the page. Like Jen, I found it hard to see some of the slight changes but just by hearing what you did I know I can experiment! Thanks!

Hey Heather, I will have something out in a few weeks :)

Hey Vinnie! Now that I've played with the drop shadow and I've watched your video again, I am able to see the changes much better. I think I just knew what to look for. This was great! I'm hoping to continue to improve and this was so helpful! I agree with what others have said about changing the color. I hadn't thought much about that before and it's making such a difference! Thanks again!
