The winner for our first Lift Challenge was a difficult choice. Congratultions to ~Karen~ for her layout, "Hangin with Uncle Zachary" as our first winner! Vinnie will be contacting you soon regarding your prize!
Now it's time for this week's challenge. We hope you all play along with us this week.
I was honored to interview and lift an amazing layout this week by Susan Dupre. I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I did. Be sure to also visit Susan's gallery at Two Peas in a Bucket. She is so inspiring!
Interview with Susan Dupre:
Tell us a little about how you started paper scrapping.
After procrastinating for three years, I decided it was time to start scrapping my little boy's life. I was in San Francisco visiting a friend, and I stopped into a scrap store. I bought a few things planning to start soon. I remember checking on line, and I found scrapbook.com. I immediately got involved in challenges to help me learn. This was in March 2007. I have never looked back. Since then I have grown as an artist, and I have been so fortunate to have been published and to be on mfg. design teams. Not to mention, I have just made so many wonderful friends out there who are fellow artists.
What colours do you usually work with?
The correct response would be - what colors do I "not" work with, lol. I really can work with any color style of paper. I did interior design before my little guy was born, and I lover every style. This has just rolled over into scrapping. I really love and do every style.
What are 3 of your favourite page designs/projects?
One is of my nephew, "remember". It is very close to my heart because he died way too young in an automobile accident. The other two are from that first year I started scrapping and are special because one shows my more playful side of scrapping, and the other is just one I love - especially the photo I took of my little guy.
Who are your paper scrapping idols?
I found this extremely hard to do! I have about 1000+ artists out there that inspire me constantly, but these girls I have admired for quite a while now.
Iris Babao-Uy"quirky and elegant"
Elizabeth Carney"fun and playful"
Jen Jockishch"just plain love her style"
Have you ever tried your hand at digital? If so, please show us a few of your works. Unfortunately, no. I am still trying to figure out the ins and outs of Photoshop. To say the least, I feel intimidated by it. I have done Hybrid and ATC's. I would like to learn though.
If possible, could you please supply a photo of your creative space?
You are so fortunate I just happen to have a photo of my scrap room after I decorated it! Needless to say, I am "not" the neatest of scrappers. I have friends that have seen the state of my space, and they know their life would be in jeopardy if they even let it be known the disaster area it is now!
